On Friday evening, 28 August, German broadcaster ZDF presented a very special musical summer evening: “Andrea Bocelli: Romanza aus der Toskana”. The concert was recorded at the Teatro del Silenzio near Lajatico – in the heart of the Tuscan hills and just a short distance from Cascina del Riccio.
Celebrating the 30th anniversary of his hugely successful album “Romanza”, Andrea Bocelli performs opera classics and some of the best-known songs from his career alongside international guests. And, of course, “Time to Say Goodbye” is part of the programme.
If you missed the original broadcast, the concert is still available to watch via ZDF’s streaming service.
Teatro del Silenzio – a unique stage in the heart of Tuscany
The Teatro del Silenzio is located near Lajatico, Andrea Bocelli’s home town. This extraordinary open-air theatre is set amidst the rolling Tuscan countryside and comes to life for only a handful of events each year.
Andrea Bocelli remains deeply connected to his Tuscan roots. Every July, he invites audiences to a spectacular concert here, attracting music lovers from all over the world to this small Tuscan town.
For guests staying at Cascina del Riccio at this time of year, a holiday in Tuscany can therefore be combined with a truly unforgettable musical experience.
Lajatico, Peccioli and Ghizzano – Tuscany away from the crowds
The concert also highlights something we always recommend to our guests: Tuscany is well worth exploring beyond its famous cities and best-known destinations.
Lajatico, Peccioli and our little village of Ghizzano are surrounded by a landscape of rolling hills, olive groves, vineyards and small villages that, in many places, have retained their authentic Tuscan character.
Cascina del Riccio is an ideal base from which to explore this part of Tuscany. At the same time, famous destinations such as Volterra, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca, Siena and Florence are all within easy reach for a day trip.
Perhaps that is one of the loveliest things about our location: waking up in the peace and quiet of the Tuscan hills and then deciding whether the day will take you to Volterra, the seaside, Pisa – or simply to the next little village.
Experience Andrea Bocelli live in his homeland
If you would like to experience Andrea Bocelli live in the place he calls home, July is the month to remember. This is when his traditional concert takes place at the Teatro del Silenzio in Lajatico.
An open-air concert surrounded by the Tuscan countryside, just a short drive from Cascina del Riccio – it is difficult to imagine a more quintessentially Tuscan summer evening.
Until then, the current ZDF recording offers a wonderful taste of the atmosphere.
“Andrea Bocelli: Romanza aus der Toskana” is currently available to stream via ZDF.
